Joondalup Ulysses Branch

Welcome to the Joondalup Ulysses Branch

Information about our club

Sundays should be for enjoying riding your motorbike with a group of friends on an exciting pre-chosen route, not spending the day arguing and deciding where some place would be good to ride.

The Joondalup Ulysses Riders App has been created to give you an instant updates of the motorbike rides and events that will be coming up in the months ahead for the members of the Joondalup Ulysses Branch, and you are free to download it and join us on any of our rides. The only proviso is that you need to love being a motorbike rider, over forty years of age and enjoy having a lot of fun.

Joondalup Ulysses Branch is a fun loving group of mature aged girls and boys that are the Perth Northern Suburbs group in Western Australia of passionate motorbike riders that form part of over 25000 other Australian members of the Ulysses Club.

The motto of the Ulysses is “Grow Old Disgracefully” and we try our best.

So what is the Ulysses Motorcycle Club all about?

The Ulysses Club Inc., is a social club for older motorcyclists that welcomes riders aged 40 years and over to join and are proud of being the largest social club in Australia.

Membership of the Club is open to any person aged 40 who holds a current motorcycle licence. Ulysses also welcome applications for membership from the spouse or regular partner (aged 40 years and over) of a member.

There is only one kind of membership, low cost full individual membership and the club welcomes all types of bikes, in fact Trike Riders from a State that allows a Trike to be ridden on a car license, are also welcome to apply for membership. The club has club plate schemes in most states for historic bikes.

By joining the club, a member can choose to attend any branch or a number of branches, branch rides and functions. If you travel overseas, there are also Ulysses Clubs in New Zealand, South Africa, Germany, Great Britain, Vietnam, Norway, Namibia, The Netherlands, Switzerland, The Kingdom of Cambodia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

The Ulysses Club has around 137 branches and 2 Special Interest Groups right throughout Australia, so opportunity exists to make new friends as you travel around. Join in a local ride, or attend a social meeting in a different location just for fun!

The Ulysses website for more information and contacts is at the end of this information page.

Our Joondalup Ulysses branch is proud to be a strong part of the Ulysses family and have a strong branch group of nearly 200 fun loving motorcyclists with 40 members riding once or twice a month and with many endeavouring to ride every week.

Riding motorbikes is not the only thing we do though. We are strongly involved in social activities and charity and supporting our community.

Each Saturday afternoon we meet for a social get together at the Burns Beach Café where Burns Beach Road meets the ocean, to enjoy good coffee, good company, good banter, good ocean views and great fun with the locals. We meet for a “formal” branch meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Currambine Bar and Bistro, Currambine in a lovely function room with a selection of great meals and drinks. For a low cost entry to support our charity effort we run raffles and generally talk motorbikes and rides, what else!!

We ride every Sunday and have a selected Leader who plans the route, often riding it prior to the Sunday to ensure a safe ride. Rides are normally in two stages, firstly to a morning tea stop and then on to lunch. Those motorbike riders that want an early Sunday to weed the garden, often leave the ride at morning tea. As well as our ride leader, we have a Tail End Charlie, who always follows to help anyone in trouble or left behind. At each major change in direction along the route we have a system of corner markers to show the way. We encourage safe and considerate motorcycle riding at all times and maintain safe speed limits. Our rides start at the McDonalds Café in Beldon on Ocean Reef Road with start time changing for summer, winter and spring.

With the overall purposes of the Club being to enable members to come together socially for companionship and mutual support, there are many overnight stays to the country, mid-week rides, social nights such as bowling, restaurant  meals and charity functions. Each year an organised group of riders will take on the adventure of riding Australia to the Ulysses Annual General Meeting, held somewhere in Australia,  be it Darwin to Hobart.

So, if you live in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, or just want to visit to join our passion for

  • Motorbikes
  • Social
  • Charity
  • Fun

Feel free to down load our App to keep in touch with what events are coming up plus view some photos and other interesting information.

You can also join us on our Facebook Page at Joondalup Ulysses Riders, just request to join.

We also send out newsletters every couple of weeks to our branch members with updates and you receive a text message about Sundays ride on Saturday to help plan your days riding.

Go to the Ulysses web site for more information and to join up http://www.ulysses.org.au

Full Joondalup Ulysses Branch contact details are on the app site.

Why not spend your Sunday Riding with a bunch of great mates, going great places, enjoying a great ride on your motorcycle, instead of taking some dead end road that totally destroys the weekend.

Come join us for a coffee this Saturday – Govenders Café Regencey Park Road Joondalup from 3-00pm. Look out for the “COFFEE CHEATERS”

    G’day,
I have just bought a grey coloured 2015 Suzuki Burgman with 20kkm and in apparent good condition for its age. The fellow
I bought it off had purchased it from a ‘Bruce’ somebody who lives in Wembly [ a school teacher ] about Febuary this year and who was a
member riding with Joondalup , The bike has a Ulysses badge above the taillight and the rego is 1HT872
The person I got if off had no service records apart from one oil change and a new tyre receipt , done during his ownership I’m eager to catch up with the original owner,
as apparently he did his own regular maintinence and would know the status of the bike.
Would be a great help if you could provide any info from your records .
    Kindest Regards, Brian [ ph 93757529 ]
